Manual Payment Method in E-commerce Stores & Order Forms
Overview
Section titled “Overview”As a store owner using Stack, you can now offer manual payment methods like Cash on Delivery (COD) or Custom Payment Methods. This allows your buyers to pay using their preferred mode of payment at the time of pickup or delivery, providing greater flexibility in how transactions are handled.
Setting Up Manual Payment Methods
Section titled “Setting Up Manual Payment Methods”Navigate to Manual Payment Methods
Section titled “Navigate to Manual Payment Methods”- Go to Payment > Integrations > Manual Payment Methods.
Choose a Payment Method
Section titled “Choose a Payment Method”- Select Cash on Delivery or create a Custom Payment Method.
Configure Payment Method
Section titled “Configure Payment Method”- After adding a payment method, you can configure optional fields such as Payment Instructions and Messages to provide additional details to your customers.
Enable Payment Methods
Section titled “Enable Payment Methods”- Decide whether to enable the manual payment method for Order Forms or E-commerce Stores. These options will only appear at checkout if they are enabled.
Save Changes
Section titled “Save Changes”- Click Save to apply your changes.
Processing Manual Payments

Section titled “Checkout Flow Preview”Understand how the checkout process will look for customers selecting a manual payment method.
Collecting Payment for Manual Payment Method Orders
Section titled “Collecting Payment for Manual Payment Method Orders”- After receiving an order, navigate to Payment > Orders.
- Select the relevant order and click the “Collect Payment” button.
Define Payment Details
Section titled “Define Payment Details”- Choose the Payment Mode from the dropdown menu.
- Optionally, add any notes about the payment.
Update Transaction Status
Section titled “Update Transaction Status”- Mark the order as paid. The transaction status will update to reflect the mode of payment used.
Important Notes
Section titled “Important Notes”- Integration Setup: Manual payment methods operate independently of any other online payment methods.
- Recurring Products: Manual payment methods will not be available at checkout if a recurring product is included in the order.
- Payment Collection: The collect order flow is specific to manual payment method orders. Once an order is marked as paid, this status cannot be changed.
- Visibility: If a payment method is not enabled for either E-commerce Stores or Order Forms, it will not appear at checkout.
- Simultaneous Setup: Both Cash on Delivery and Custom Payment Methods can be set up at the same time.
By following these steps, you can easily manage manual payment methods in your Stack-powered store, offering flexibility and convenience to your customers.
