Custom Fields for Opportunities in Stack allow you to capture, organize, and customize information to suit your specific needs. This feature transforms opportunities into personalized processes, enabling you to create, categorize, and group custom fields within the Opportunity Modal, similar to the customization available for contacts.

Custom Fields for Opportunities enable you to add, customize, and organize specific data fields for your sales opportunities. This feature provides flexibility and precision in tracking potential sales or tasks, allowing you to include data points unique to your operations or sales processes. Custom fields can range from project deadlines and product specifications to client preferences.

You can categorize these custom fields into folders for a more organized view. Additionally, there’s an option to hide empty fields, ensuring a clean and efficient display of opportunity cards.

Create a custom field for each opportunity’s sales closing date to ensure your team is aware of all critical deadlines.

Differentiate between various sales stages for an opportunity, such as initial contact, needs assessment, negotiation, or final closing.

Track specific product or service details related to an opportunity, such as product model, SKU, or service type.

Keep track of specific preferences or needs of a client, such as preferred contact time or any particular requirements they may have.

Monitor where your leads are coming from, including referrals, social media, direct mail, etc.

Include a field for the client’s budget or expenditure capability to tailor your offers more precisely.

Indicate the probability of an opportunity turning into a successful sale. This can help prioritize resource allocation and could be a number field modified using a Math Operation workflow action.

Track when you should follow up with a potential client to keep the conversation going and increase the chances of a sale.

If your opportunities are tied to specific marketing campaigns, create a custom field to track which campaign each opportunity is associated with.

Having a field for the client’s industry or occupation can help you understand their needs better and tailor your communications accordingly.

How to Use Custom Fields for Opportunities

  1. Navigate to Settings: Access the settings page in your Stack account.
  2. Create Custom Fields: Go to ‘Custom Fields’ under settings. Click on ‘Add Field’ or ‘Create Field’.
  3. Define Your Fields: Choose ‘Opportunity’ as your object and define your custom field type, such as single-line text, number, or dropdown. Name it appropriately, like ‘Project Start Date’ or ‘Sales Stage’.
  4. Available Field Types: You can add various types of custom fields:
    • Text Input (Single Line, Multi-Line)
    • Number
    • Phone
    • Monetary
    • Dropdown (Single, Multiple)
    • Radio Select
    • Checkbox
    • Date Picker
    • Signature
    • File Upload (allows multiple files on the same opportunity)
  5. Create Custom Folders: Group your custom fields into folders for better organization. Go to ‘Folders’ in the ‘Custom Fields’ section, create a new folder, name it, and select ‘Opportunity’ as its object.
  6. Reorder Custom Fields: Adjust the order of your custom fields as needed. The updated order will reflect in both Add and Edit Opportunity dialogs.
  7. Use Your Custom Fields: When creating or editing an opportunity, you’ll see these new custom fields. Fill in the information as needed.
  8. Hide Empty Fields: Enable the ‘Hide Empty Fields’ feature to avoid displaying fields without values.
  9. Delete Custom Opportunity Fields: To delete a specific custom field, go to Account Settings, find “Custom Fields”, select the field, and choose Delete under “Bulk Actions”.

When you create or edit an opportunity, your custom fields will be visible in the Opportunity Modal. Fill them in as necessary to capture all relevant information.
