The Grant/Revoke Private Channel Access workflow action in Stack allows you to automate the management of private channel access. This feature helps streamline community interactions by ensuring members have the appropriate access to engage with relevant content and discussions.

Action Descriptions

Grant Private Channel Access: Use this action to provide a member with access to a specific private channel within a community group. This automation also adds the member to the community group if they aren’t already part of it, ensuring they receive timely updates and can engage with channel content and members.

Revoke Private Channel Access: Use this action to remove a member’s access to a specific private channel while keeping them within the community group.

How to Configure

1. Navigate to the Workflow Builder:
   Access the Workflow Builder in your Stack account.

2. Create a New Workflow:
   Click on “Create a Workflow.”

3. Select the Action Type:
   Choose either “Grant Private Channel Access” or “Revoke Private Channel Access.”

4. Configure Trigger Details:

   • Specify the group and the private channel for which you want to grant or revoke access.
   • Ensure you have the relevant private channel selected. If a member is not already part of the group, they will be added to both the group and the chosen channel.
   • Add any subsequent actions you wish to automate.

5. Test Your Workflow:
   Test the workflow in a controlled environment to ensure it operates as expected.

6. Save and Activate:
   Once confirmed, save your workflow and activate it for use.

Example

Imagine a new member joins a book club community. You can set up a workflow that automatically grants them access to the “Book Upgrades” private channel. This ensures they receive immediate updates about upcoming discussions and can engage with other members right away.
