How to Add Setup Fees to Your Recurring Invoices
If you offer a product that includes an initial setup fee along with a monthly recurring charge, Stack now makes it easier to manage these payments with a single invoice. Previously, you might have needed two separate invoices, but now you can streamline this process.
What’s New?
Section titled “What’s New?”With Stack, you can:
- Add a setup fee to a recurring product.
- Include this product in a recurring invoice.
- Automatically generate two line items for the product: one for the setup fee and another for the recurring charge.
For future invoices, only the recurring charge will appear, as the setup fee is a one-time charge.
How to Add Setup Fees to Recurring Invoices
Section titled “How to Add Setup Fees to Recurring Invoices”-
Create a Product with a Setup Fee:
- Navigate to the Product section in Stack.
- Create a new product and set the price type to Recurring.
- Add a setup fee to this product.

Create a Recurring Invoice:
- Go to the Invoices section.
- Create a new recurring invoice.
- Add the product with the setup fee to this invoice.
When you add the product, you’ll see two line items: one labeled with “Setup Fee” for the initial charge and another for the recurring price.
Future Invoices
Section titled “Future Invoices”For all subsequent invoices generated according to your schedule, only the recurring charge will be included. The setup fee is only billed once at the start.
