How to Use Partial Payment for Invoices

Overview

With Stack, you now have the flexibility to accept partial payments on invoices. This feature allows you to set a minimum percentage of the total invoice amount that must be paid by your customers. Whether you’re dealing with one-time or recurring invoices, this option provides greater control over your payment plans and can help increase the likelihood of receiving payments.

Why Use Partial Payments?

Partial payments offer several benefits:

• Flexibility: Customers can pay an amount that meets or exceeds the minimum percentage you set, making it easier for them to manage their finances.
• Increased Payment Capture: By allowing partial payments, you can capture more payments from customers who might otherwise be unable to pay the full amount upfront.
• Control: Business owners can tailor payment plans to better suit their business needs and customer capabilities.

Important Note

For recurring invoices, partial payments are available only when autopayment is disabled. If autopayment is enabled, the option for partial payment is available only for the first invoice; subsequent invoices will automatically draft the full amount.

How to Enable Partial Payments

To start using partial payments, ensure that you have a payment gateway integrated with Stack, such as Stripe, Authorize.net, or NMI. Follow these steps to enable partial payments:

1. Navigate to Payments in your Stack dashboard.
2. Click on Invoices and then go to Invoice Settings.
3. In the menu, select Payment Settings.
4. Enable the Partial Payments toggle.
5. Enter the desired percentage in the input field. This percentage is based on the total invoice amount.
6. Click Save.

And that’s it! Partial payments are now enabled for your invoices, providing you and your customers with more payment options.
