Custom Values Settings

Custom Values in Stack are key:value pairs that you can create once and reuse throughout the platform. This feature saves you time by allowing you to update a single value that automatically updates everywhere the key is used.

What Are Custom Values?

Custom Values consist of a Key and a Value that can be accessed anywhere in Stack. Instead of repeatedly entering the same information, you can use the Key. When you update the Value in the Custom Values list, it automatically updates everywhere the Key is used.

How to Create Custom Values

1. Navigate to Custom Values:

   • Go to Settings > Custom Values within your Stack account.

2. Create a New Custom Value:

   • Click the New Custom Value button located in the upper right corner.

3. Fill in the Fields:

   • Name Field: This is where you define the Key. For example, “My Custom Value” becomes custom_values.my_custom_value.
   • Value Field: Enter the value you want associated with the Key.
   • Folder Field (optional): You can organize your Custom Values into folders if desired.

How to Manage Custom Values

Folders

• To organize your Custom Values, click on the Folders tab and then the Add New Custom Value Folder button.
• Custom Values can belong to only one folder at a time, and folders cannot be nested.

Folder Menu

• Access the folder options by clicking the three dots next to a folder name.

Rename Folder

• Select Rename Folder and enter the new name.

Delete Folder

• Choose Delete Folder and confirm when prompted.

Search

• Use the search field at the top right of the All Values list to quickly find specific Custom Values by typing in your search term.

Item Menu

• Click the three dots next to a Custom Value to access more options.

Item Move to Folder

• Select Move To Folder, choose the target folder in the modal, and click Move.

Item Edit Custom Value

• Choose Edit Custom Value to update the Name, Value, or Folder. Note that changing the Name does not alter the Key.

Item Delete Custom Value

• Click Delete Custom Value and confirm in the modal to remove it.

Bulk Actions

• Select multiple Custom Values using checkboxes. The Bulk Actions button will appear.

Bulk Move to Folder

• Click Move To Folder, select the target folder, and confirm your choice.

Bulk Delete Custom Value

• Choose Delete Custom Value and confirm to delete all selected items.
